We were there!

Last weekend we headed north.  We had made a date with Happy, to take her out for dinner, and we wanted to stop in Loudin County for a quick visit with Bob's brother Glen & his family.  We know a little something about winter driving... (but it was still October!), and we even remember a little bit about winter driving in Washington, D.C. (some people don't believe in it).  We awoke Saturday morning to a light dusting of snow on the lawns and in the forest around our townhouse, but that had melted. It wasn't snowing in Charlottesville at noon, and we were a little bit confused about where the storm warnings actually applied.  So, we headed north.
We were well rewarded by the vibrant hues of the glades and hills we passed. It just can't get any better than this for an "Autumn-Lover" like me, and a color-blind husband who believes me!
It's just a little over two hours to Glen's house (with a bathroom stop), and we were loving our Odyssee test-drive (with the new transmission... did I tell you about that?).  By the time we made our last turn that takes us into the quaint, little Civil War era town, we thought we had turned to December.  The snowy path photo was taken near where we were driving.  The snowman photo was taken AT Glen's house!  It was beginning to look a lot like....   and we were listening to Bob's master recording of the Christmas album he just finished (more on that at a later date!).  I'm trying to create the feeling for you... the same one we had on that wonderful afternoon last Saturday!  How am I doing?

So, long story, cut short:  We decided that since the snowflakes were getting bigger, we'd better skedaddle into town to see Happy.  We made it, and enjoyed a wonderful California Pizza Kitchen meal...  it's one of her favorite places to go.  We met her creative, beautiful, smart and dressed-for-Halloween-party roommates, and headed home.  No mis-haps, not too much snow.  Just a late night after a wonderful day, when Bob and Nancy decided to take a serendipitous adventure and...  headed north.
I had the CPK Moroccan Salad... yum!
